Navarre is a single province of the same name, located in the North of Spain, on the border with France, and its capital is Pamplona. It has a large number of wineries for sale, many of them with vineyards. Navarre's wines are some of the oldest in Spain, especially its excellent rosés, while the quality of its red and white wines has earned international recognition. A key characteristic of the DO Navarra is the extraordinary diversity of its climate and landscape, with an agricultural and livestock production quite varied, so that the wineries work with a great diversity of grapes.
The authorised red varieties are Cabernet-Sauvignon, Garnacha Tinta, Graciano, Merlot, Mazuelo, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Tempranillo. As for the white varieties, Chardonnay, Garnacha Blanca, Malvasía, Moscatel de grano menudo, Sauvignon Blanc and Viura. The Designation of Origin Navarra is located in the Southeast of the region, between Pamplona and and the plains, and it is divided into five production areas: Baja Montaña, Valdizarbe, Tierra Estella, Ribera Alta and Ribera Baja. In addition to the DO, there is Vino de Pago in Arínzano VP, Prado de Irache VP and Otazu VP; and Vino de la Tierra in 3 Riberas VdT and Ribera del Quiles VdT.
