Any time is good to drink sparkling wines, but it seems that with the arrival of heat they are even more appealing. In this entry I propose ten wines that will not disappoint. The selection is based on enjoyable wines, with excellent value for money. Here we go!
1º) VISOL GRAN RESERVA, FROM CAVES MESTRES
I admit that the Mestres sparkling wines, in general terms, may be my favorite cavas. In addition, they offer a wide range of qualities.
2º) LES VORANES BRUT NATURE, FROM BUFADORS
A modern-style cava, produced by Ton Mata (Recadero) in his personal project.
3º) CAVA BABEL, FROM VINYA NATURA
Cava from the Valencian Community produced by the small Vinya Natura winery.
4º) IZAR LEKU, FROM IZAR LEKU MAHASTIAK
Sparkling wine made with Hondaribi zuri in Getaria, Basque Country. Every time she goes out blindly, she is mistaken for champagne.
5º) BURBULLAS DAS BATEAS EXTRA BRUT, FROM ADEGA POMBAL
We continue in Spain, this time in Galicia. An Albariño sparkling wine, which can also easily lead to a champagne.
6º) DOPE, BY CLAUS PREISINGER
We are going to Austria. Preisinger makes excellent sparkling wines there, where the grapes always have great acidity, something essential for all sparkling wines.
7º) CREMANT BRUT D’ALSACE, FROM KIENTZ
In France, there is not only champagne. In Alsace, sparkling wines are called “cremant” and those made by Kientz are excellent.
8º) BLANC DE BLANCS, FROM BRIDE VALLEY VINEYARD.
If someone had doubts about English wine, here is the answer. It is done and very well. In Dorset, in the south of England, there are very good sparkling wines made with Chardonnay and/or Pinot Noir.
9º) BRUT TRADITION GRAND CRU, BY MARCEL MOINEAUX
One of the champagnes I know of that have the best value for money.
10º) LES VIGNES DE MONTGUEUX, BY JACQUES LASSAIGNE
We finish with a champagne, with an oxidative touch, which is also very gastronomic.
This relation of sparkling wines ranges from €12 to €50, so there is no excuse. Some of these wines will be found in bars, restaurants and shops, although not always. The safe bet is to buy them in specialized stores and enjoy them quietly at home, if possible on a terrace or by the pool. In any case, all of them are easy to acquire online.
