It is the turn of the whites, perhaps the most popular type of wine during the summer. Always fresh and easily accessible compared to sparkling wines. Here we have a lot of possibilities that will not disappoint us. These are some of them:
1º) ALBARIÑO, BY EULOGIO POMARES ZÁRATE
This basic wine never fails, although there is no wine from this producer that I dislike.
2º) ULTREIA GODELLO, BY RAÚL PÉREZ
Godello offers us multiple possibilities, both in Galicia and in Bierzo, where Raúl Pérez makes excellent wines.
3º) MIGUEL MERINO WHITE, FROM MIGUEL MERINO WINERY
I love well-made grapes! In Rioja, the white wines are overlooked by the fame of the reds, but be careful, there are some marvellous wines.
4º) K5, FROM K5 WINERY
The wine of the Arguiñano family. White wines from the Basque Country are becoming more and more fashionable and it is no coincidence. There the hondaribi zuri is the queen and offers us fresh wines, with good acidity and very pleasant.
5º) ARTÍFICE LISTÁN BLANCO, BY BORJA PÉREZ
Wines from the Canary Islands combine acidity and atlanticism. A perfect mix against the heat, although of course, you will like any wine from Borja Pérez.
6º) KINHEIMER ROSENBERG KABINETT, FROM WEINGUT GELCHW ALBERTS-EBEN
Riesling has always seemed to me a very summery variety due to its excellent acidity. Besides, in Moselle it is difficult to find a Riesling that is not good.
7º) ANJOU BLANC, FROM THIBAUD BOUDIGNON
Another grape synonymous with great acidity and, therefore, ideal to combat the heat. This time we are going to the Loire with its famous châteaux.
8º) CHABLIS, FROM DOMAINE GARNIER ET FILS
We continue with wines with good acidity, this time in Burgundy, Chablis. A magical place where exceptional wines are produced.
9º) OSSIAN, FROM OSSIAN VINES AND VINEYARDS.
A verdejo, not “verdejito”. I am not a big fan of this variety, but it is fair to say that this wine is very good. The little brother, Quintaluna, is not a bad option either.
10º) A TORNA DOS PASAS ESCOLMA, BY LUIS ANXO RODRÍGUEZ
Let’s go to Ribeiro. This is a great wine, one of the best wines of our country, without any doubt.
This list of white wines ranges from 15 to 50 €. As I said with the sparkling wines, some of these wines can be found in bars, restaurants and shops, although not always. The safe bet is to buy them in specialised shops and enjoy them at home, preferably on a terrace or by the pool. In any case, all of them are easy to buy online.
